Review of UML for Developing Knowledge Management Systems (Hardcover)

This book is by far one of the best books I have read on knowledge management.I highly recommend this book for everyone's library that has an interest in Knowledge Management.Dr. Rhem has a knack breaking Knowledge management into everyday terms that is easy to relate to.I believe in this book, it has become mandatory reading for all our employees.

This book has a nice introduction to the knowledge management offering definitions, some history, and various critical dimensions of knowledge management. Each dimension of knowledge management is broken down into understandable terms.

I would recommend this book to for beginners and experts in knowledge management.It does cover advance areas of knowledge management.Also the review on UML is also a nice refresher.

Review of Simple Web Sites: Organizing Content-Rich Web Sites into Simple Structures [ILLUSTRATED] (Hardcover)

This book is a collection of case studies, like Jakob Nielsen's Homepage Usability. The explanations from one chapter to another tends to be repetitive, and not all of the 24 websites are really-really cool, BUT unlike Jakob's book that just attempted to make long distance intepretations, this glossy hard cover book takes us into the design processes complete with each designers' thinkings, from the early paper sketches, the sitemaps, and the final screenshots. And those insights are good enough for me buy this book.

Review of Structured Finance Modeling with Object-Oriented VBA (Wiley Finance) (Hardcover)

This is an outstanding textbook on how to master the intricacies of a structured finance (especially, home-equity ABS) deal. It teaches ABS from several angles: modeling (chapter 1-4), structuring (chatper 5), and ABS analytics (chapter 6).

Although definitions and explanations about any given deal can be readily found from prospectus and prospectus supplements, for practitioners like myself, this book improves one's understanding of what's, how's and why's of any particular feature of a typical RMBS structure. This is a book I wished I had read when I started in this business.

In this book, the process of modeling a RMBS deal was shown step-by-step, with definitions, equations, tables and figures accompanying easy to understand explanations. The equations are written in a way that if is straightforward to be coded into VBA (or any other language) and be implemented.

This is a book about learning about modeling and implementing an ABS. End of chapter programming excercises reinforce the notion of learning by doing. To respond to the prior reviewer's desire of having a complete program to run and test, I believe that the only way one is going to learn a complex structure is to read, follow, implement and experiment with self-written codes. This book provides you with all the tools and explanations you need to get started in this interesting field.

Review of Adobe Acrobat 8 PDF Bible (Paperback)

Over a thousand pages and the type is small -- just like a real Bible. This book is everything you could possibly have wanted to know about Adobe Acrobat 8. And beyond Acrobat 8 itself, the book discusses and includes on a CD a number of third party add in packages that further extend what Acrobat will do.

Most people who have only Acrobat Reader to read .pdf files will be surprised to find that the program that produces the .pdf file is a huge and powerful software system. This book has everything you could possibly want to know about Acrobat. As with the Acrobat software itself, the book covers both the Windows and the MAC operating environments. In general these are the same, but in several cases where they are different screen shots off of both computers are included.
