Taming the Sharks is a masterful combination of academic and common-sense notions that every American capable of introspection should read.Utilizing a continuum of sources ranging from liberal to biblical references Peterson illustrates how our "advanced" society allows far more financial plundering of individuals who do not protect themselves than a multitude of civilizations that preceded us.

Whether the victims ought to protect themselves is irrelevant.The fact is that they do not.Tax payer dollars are then necessary to reconstruct the devastation.

After this fascinating reading any individual who does not directly profit from this industry will agree that the problem is immense based on either consideration for the U.S. economy or a shred of their own moral decency.

If the authors were still employed by a financial services organization, their employments would have been in trouble as this book reveals too much insightful information.

Most books of this type are either too high-level or too technically detailed. This book, however, is a rare mix of fine high-level overview and ready-to-use technical methods and specifications.

The book title is appropriate for the book contents. However, the book title is a little too humble in that what are taught in the book are actually 100% applicable to generic enterprise risk management.

Forget about high-priced workshop of enterprise risk management, you will be better off by getting and reading this book.

Review of Maverick Real Estate Financing: The Art of Raising Capital and Owning Properties Like Ross, Sanders and Carey (Hardcover)

This rating is based on how well the book met my expectations. If you are honestly ready and focused on joining the ranks of Zuckerman, Shorenstein, Zell, or Trump, then a book like this might serve well as a type of guide post. You would then be dealing with projects in the $100 million plus range. If, however, your focus is on the lower end of the spectrum ... like financing apartment buildings under $5 million - with or without the aid of an investment group - you will not gain much in the way of practical knowledge from this book
